“…Necrotizing arteritis is known to be rare. Bywaters (1957) described an obliterative endarteritis in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, subcutaneous nodules, and peripheral gangrene, and Mahallawy and Sabour (1959) reported similar appearances in five renal biopsies. Later investigators, such as Brun and others (1965) and Pollak, Pirani, Steck, and Kark (1962), noted obliterative vascular changes but ascribed them to arteriosclerosis.…”
