Removal of Phosphorus from High-phosphorus Iron Ore with Preliminary Reduction Treatment and Physical Concentration

Abstract: Fundamental experiments were conducted with the aim of crude separation of the phosphorus contained in high-P iron ore prior to the ironmaking process. By reducing high-P iron ore with lime and graphite at an appropriate blending ratio and temperature, a reduction product was obtained consisting of a P-concentrated phase, metallic Fe with low P, and an Fe oxide-containing phase. The reduction product was pulverized by electrical pulse disintegration, and a magnetic separation experiment was performed for each … Show more

“…Kubo et al proposed a process in which C 2 S-C 3 P s.s. -containing slag is converted into free particles by electrical pulse disintegration and then the P concentrate is sorted using a strong magnetic field. [20][21][22] Therefore, if P in iron ore can also be concentrated in the C 2 S phase, it is expected that selective extraction can be easily performed by a similar leaching or magnetic separation treatment. However, little research has been done on the conditions under which C 2 S is actively produced when iron ore is used as a starting material.…”
