Removal of Pb(II) from aqueous media using adsorption onto polyaniline coated sisal fibers

Abstract: Lead is one of the toxic metals that cause detrimental health disorders. Polyaniline (PAni) coated sisal fibers were prepared via in situ polymerization and used to remove Pb(II) from wastewater. PAni/SF was investigated on batch experiment to remove Pb(II) from wastewater as a function of contact time, pH, particle size, adsorbent, and adsorbate dose. Studies on kinetics revealed adsorption of Pb(II) obeyed pseudo second order. Adsorption equilibrium was suitably fitted in Langmuir isotherm with linear coeffi… Show more

“…The adsorption capacity of H 2 SO 4 −CMPTA also notably surpasses that of the conventional PANi series materials, as evidenced by comparative analyses. H 2 SO 4 −CMPTA exhibits an adsorption capacity approximately 3.4 times greater than PANI (21.0 mg g −1 ), 43 3.2 times higher than PANI/MWCNTs (22.2 mg g −1 ), 43 10.9 times that of PANi/sisal fiber composites (6.53 mg g −1 ), 44 and 4.4 times more than polyaniline grafted chitosan (16.07 mg g −1 ). 45 These significant disparities in adsorption efficiency not only demonstrate the enhanced performance of H 2 SO 4 −CMPTA but also validate the efficacy of the material's design.…”
