REMOVAL OF Cd(II) AND Pb(II) FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS BY PISTACHIO HULL WASTE

Abstract: The aim of this study was to use the raw pistachio hull powder for the removal of Cd(II) and Pb(II) from aqueous solutions. The kinetic experiments showed that the biosorption of Cd(II) and Pb(II) on the adsorbent is rapid, and maximum biosorption capacities were achieved in 2 h. The time-dependent biosorption of Cd(II) and Pb(II) onto the adsorbent were well described by both the pseudo-first-order and the pseudosecond-order models. The experimental adsorption capacity (qexp) was close to that calculated from… Show more

“…In the present work, the data obtained was better explained with the Langmuir-Freundlich model. In the work of Hamidpour et al (2018) the same mathematical adjustment was obtained to the Langmuir-Freundlich isotherm but in that case it corresponds to the Sips isotherm, in which as the concentration of the metal increases the biosorption capacity increases, in that work pistachio residues show the biosorption of cadmium and lead, having greater affinity for the removal of lead (similar to what was found in the present work). The biosorption process studied in the present work showed that the biomaterial at high concentrations reported a higher removal capacity, namely 25.7 and 8.6 mg / g for lead and copper, respectively.…”

“…Furthermore, the occurrence of physisorption and chemisorption processes forming monolayers and multilayers was observed. Additionally, the work reported by Hamidpour et al (2018) obtained the same mathematical adjustment to the pseudo second-order model, in which the maximum removal capacities were at 120 min.…”

“…To reiterate, zeolites are natural or synthetic crystalline frameworks of alkaline-based aluminosilicates that can act as molecular sieves because of their adsorption capacity [98,103]. They are linked to metal(loid) immobilization in conjunction with composts and have an immobilizing effect when applied to soil alone [57].…”

“…The effective reduction of phytoavailability has been demonstrated for several metal(loid)s [45][46][47][48][49][50][51][52][53]. Aluminosilicates such as natural zeolites are efficient when employed alone for Cd and Pb [54,55] and in a mixture with organic amendments in the case of Cd and Pb as well as Zn [56,57].…”

“…Literatür araştırmasında fıstık kabuğu ile yapılan adsorpsiyon araştırmaları incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları Antep fıstığı kabuklarının ağır metaller (Cu, Ni, Cd, Pb, Zn, Cr), tekstil boyaları ve fenollerin gideriminde başarıyla kullanıldığını göstermektedir (Banerjee et al 2019;Hamidpour et al 2018;Moussavi & Barikbin, 2010;Salmani et al 2019;Turan & Mesci, 2011). Acid Red 42, Basic Red 18 (Savci et al 2019), Remazol Red (Armagan & Toprak, 2013), Violet B (Hashemian, 2014), Methylene blue (Moussavi & Khosravi, 2011), Reactive Red 120 (Çelekli et al 2010) boyalarından kaynaklı renk giderimi için fıstık kabuğu kullanılarak kesikli sistem adsorpsiyon çalışmaları yapılmıştır.…”
