Modern technologies and World Wide Web open new opportunities for smooth learning process making education more accessible and flexible. Digitalization of modern society has resulted in the transformation of all levels of education leading to the transition from mass education to high quality individual training. In modern context the quality of education is viewed as the most important indicator of the institutions’ competitiveness on the market of educational services. The quality of education is the priority of states’ policy agenda around the world. The paper considers “shadow education” and private tutoring, as one of its forms. The term “private tutoring” is defined in the article based on the analysis of legislative and regulatory sources that allow to provide tutoring services using e-learning tools and technologies in compliance with the legal framework of the Russian Federation. The legitimacy of the notion of “private tutoring” in the legislation of Russia is justified in the research. An overview of sites offering tutoring services is given with the comparison of price range, depending on the academic subject and regions of Russia. Besides, the advantages and disadvantages of private tutoring are outlined. The results of the study showed that private tutoring services are in high demand due to two main factors: the insufficient level of public/private education received and the inconsistency in knowledge obtained and the requirements of national and international labor markets. The paper also contains the review of popular educational platforms and online learning tools used by private tutors as well as pros and cons of their application. The results of the questionnaire offered to the academic staff of the V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University, the Sevastopol State University, and the Crimean Fevzi Yakubov Engineering and Pedagogical University show that most of educators practice online tutoring and consider it to be their additional professional activity.

This article reports a case study of an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher in Hong Kong who conducted lessons via Zoom during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study focused on the factors influencing her technology integration in synchronous online teaching mode. Using data from classroom recordings, stimulated-recall and semi-structured interviews, this study uncovered how Zoom functioned as a substitute for face-to-face lessons. The findings revealed that although there were fewer interactions between the teacher and her students, teaching in synchronous online mode provided the teacher with opportunities to utilize certain online features to augment methods of checking student understanding. The study identified the teacher’s pedagogical beliefs, the context and professional development as factors that influenced the level of technology integration in her Zoom classes. The study concludes that embracing process-oriented pedagogies may be necessary for a higher level of technology integration among ESL teachers who have adequate professional development opportunities and school support.

In the context of Ukraine, where the education system faces numerous challenges, understanding the interconnection between these concepts is paramount for driving meaningful change and fostering socio-economic development. This research aims to explore the interconnection between educational innovation and digital transformation, specifically focusing on its implications and prospects for Ukraine's education sector. The research employs a comprehensive literature review approach, drawing upon scholarly works and empirical studies related to educational innovation and digital transformation. Comparative analyses and impact assessment studies are utilized to provide a nuanced understanding of the complex dynamics at play. The study reveals the critical significance of embracing educational innovation and digital transformation in Ukraine. It highlights the potential of digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning practices, improve educational outcomes, and foster socio-economic development. Furthermore, the results identify key factors and opportunities associated with the integration of digital initiatives, offering insights into effective strategies and policy interventions. In conclusion, educational innovation and digital transformation represent more than fleeting trends; they are essential routes toward cultivating a robust, flexible, and globally competitive education system in Ukraine. Through embracing innovation, nurturing digital literacy, and placing a premium on educational reform, Ukraine can assert its leadership in educational excellence and secure the prosperity of forthcoming generations. The findings of this research provide valuable guidance for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders in Ukraine's education sector. By understanding the implications of educational innovation and digital transformation, stakeholders can enact evidence-based reforms, implement effective interventions, and propel Ukraine towards a more prosperous and knowledge-driven future.
