The article seeks to characterize in the literature studies of mobile application development in the health area focused on safety in patient care. This is an integrative literature review performed in the MEDLINE, CINAHL, SCOPUS and LILACS databases with original articles published between 2013-2018 in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Data extraction was mediated by the validated Ursi instrument, 2005. The articles were classified according to the level of evidence and the international patient safety goal addressed. 18 articles comprised the review, of which (n = 12, 66%) were published between 2014 and 2017 and 17 (94%) in international journals. There was a predominance of level III studies of evidence (n = 9; 50). As for the public involved in the research, there was a predominance of nurses and nursing academics, as well as hospitalized and domiciled patients. Aiming a better understanding of the ideas, the discussion was arranged in four categories: specifications of the analyzed sample; mobile technology focused on efficient communication; applications for monitoring safe pharmacotherapy and computerization of data collection. It is noted that the characterization of available apps increases the range of options for users to deepen the patient safety theme inserted in digital platforms. Moreover, the detailed levels of evidence in the available publications make this research an input for future research.

Resumo OBJETIVO Conhecer a produção científica sobre o acompanhamento por telefone feito pelo enfermeiro junto a pacientes oncológicos em quimioterapia ambulatorial. MÉTODO Revisão integrativa de artigos disponíveis nas bases de dados LILACS e BDENF/BVS, MEDLINE/PubMed, CINAHL e Scopus utilizando os descritores: “Drug Therapy”, “Antineoplastic protocols”, “Antineoplastic agents”, “Telemedicine”, “Telenursing”, “Telephone” e variações, nas bases CINAHL e Scopus, publicados nos últimos 5 anos. RESULTADOS Foram identificados 19 artigos com as seguintes temáticas: Gerenciamento e controle dos sintomas; Avaliação da qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde; Capacidade de autoeficácia; Apoio emocional, Estresse do Cuidador e Satisfação do paciente. CONCLUSÕES Estratégias e métodos de acompanhamento de pacientes em quimioterapia ambulatorial são viáveis e efetivos, sendo amplamente utilizados, principalmente nos Estados Unidos da América e na Ásia. O enfermeiro deve identificar métodos compatíveis e centrados no paciente de acordo com sua realidade institucional.

Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are two famous modalities in tumor‐targeted therapy that lead to systemic and local toxicities for normal tissues. Moreover, several studies have confirmed that exposure of the tumor to radiation or chemotherapy drugs stimulate some signaling pathways in the tumor microenvironment (TME), leading to resistance of cancer cells to apoptosis, as well as promoting angiogenesis and tumor growth. Nuclear factor kappa B (NF‐κB) plays a central role in the regulation of inflammatory responses in both normal tissues and tumors via the release of several cytokines, regulation of prostaglandins, reduction/oxidation (redox) reactions, angiogenesis, and cell death. Upregulation of NF‐κB in normal tissues causes an appearance of inflammatory reactions and oxidative stress, whereas it regulates angiogenesis and suppresses apoptosis, leading to resistance to subsequent doses of radiation or chemotherapy. Selective inhibition of NF‐κB in experimental studies has shown promising results for tumor sensitization via apoptosis induction, inhibition of angiogenesis, and increasing delay of tumor growth. The use of some agents for NF‐κB inhibition has been shown to alleviate radiation/chemotherapy toxicities in normal cells/ tissues. In this current review, we explained the pivotal role of NF‐κB in both normal tissue toxicity and tumor resistance. We also discussed the promising strategies for overcoming these problems with regard to chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
