Remote characterization of mixed waste by infrared spectroscopy: Fiscal year 1995 report

Abstract: Tank waste characterization requires various analytical systems to identify the chemical composition and water content of Hanford Site high-level waste to ensure that safety and environmental requirements are met and to provide stability and maintain the integrity of the tanks. An analytical database for the waste is also key to the design and implementation of pre-treatment and disposal processes. These tanks contain high-level mixed waste as sludge, saltcake, and supernate.
