“…Surveys have been conducted in Britain (Scott & Zac, 1993), Lithuania (Schuman, Rieger, & Gaidys, 1994), Japan (Schuman, Akiyama, & Knauper 1998), Germany (Schuman et al, 1998), the Netherlands (Ester, Vinken, & Diepstraten, 2002), Israel (Schuman, Vinitzky-Serousi, & Vinokur, 2003), China (Jennings & Zhang, 2005, utilizing two separate samples, Villagers and Cadres-the latter consisting of ranking local party and government officials), and emigrants to the USA from the successor states of the Soviet Union (Corning, 2010). Schuman and Rodgers (2004) also conducted a follow-up study to Schuman and Scott's (1989) initial American survey, asking Americans from 2000 to 2001, and again in the months after the terrorist attacks of 11 September, 2001 (9/11), to name one or two important events of recent history.…”
