Reliability, validity, and applicability of the Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with assistive Technology (QUEST 2.0) for adults with multiple sclerosis

Abstract: These findings on the psychometric properties of the QUEST 2.0 reinforce the relevance of the device subscale as an important outcome measure for assistive technology MS users. Further assessment of the services subscale is needed.

“…In recent years technological developments have improved the features of EADL so that they can be totally wireless, have dynamic colour displays and be speech operated. More broadly, assistive technology including EADL is a rapidly growing field of interest both clinically and academically with research interests focused on use and non-use (or abandonment) 1,2 , user satisfaction [3][4][5][6][7] , and quality of life 8,9 . While acknowledging the broader developments in the field of assistive technology, this study focused on EADL specifically rather than AT in general as AT has a broader scope ranging from simple devices such as eye glasses to technologically advanced items such as communication aids.…”

“…It is considered as the most relevant tool in functional assessment for assistive technology. It covers both the device and the service components of assistive technology [18] [29]. Although we agree that this instrument is quite useful, we have decided to develop our own questionnaire because QUEST considers many aspects that cannot be taken into account when prototypes which are not in the market are considered.…”

“…Another advantage of using the NASA-TLX was that it did not require long-term use of the DSS, as opposed to other outcome measure tools such as The Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology [31], the Matching Person & Technology assessment [32], and Functioning Everyday with a Wheelchair (FEW) [33][34], which require long-term use of an assistive technology device and need to be administered by certified clinicians.…”
