Reliability of the Romanian Version of the Alcohol Module of the WHO Alcohol Use Disorder and Associated Disabilities: Interview Schedule – Alcohol/Drug-Revised

Abstract: Alcohol Use Disorder and Associated Disabilities Interview Schedule – Alcohol/Drug-Revised (AUDADIS-A/D-R) is a fully structured, standardized and precoded instrument designed to evaluate alcohol and drug use disorders according to DSM-III-R, DSM-IV, and ICD-10 criteria. The AUDADIS-A/D-R has shown good to excellent reliability in both large clinical and general population samples, but prior to the conduct of the present study no data on the reliability of the Romanian version of the AUDADIS-A/D-R existed. The… Show more

“…The good to excellent (k = 0.70–0.91) test–retest reliability of AUDADIS-IV substance use disorder diagnoses is documented in clinical and general population samples 37-39, 44-46 . Convergent, discriminant and construct validity of AUDADIS-IV substance use disorder criteria and diagnoses were good to excellent 47-51 , including international studies 52-57 , and agreement with clinical reappraisals 44, 52 .…”

“…Reliability and validity of AUDADIS-IV diagnoses and drug consumption measures-As reported in detail elsewhere (Grant et al, 2003b(Grant et al, , 2004b, reliability and validity were good to excellent for all substance use disorders (Canino et al, 1999;Compton et al, 2004Compton et al, , 2005Grant et al, 1995Grant et al, , 2003aHasin et al, 1997aHasin et al, ,b, 2003Hasin and Paykin, 1999;Vrasti et al, 1998), and fair to good for mood, anxiety, and personality disorders, including ASPD (Canino et al, 1999;Compton et al, 2004Compton et al, , 2005Conway et al, 2005;Grant et al, 2003aGrant et al, , 2004aGrant et al, ,b,c, 2005a. Measures of drug use, including prevalences and ages at onset of use of specific drug classes, displayed fair to excellent reliability (Grant, 1996;Grant and Dawson, 1998;Grant et al, 1995;Hasin et al, 1997a,b).…”

“…The alcohol abuse diagnosis has been shown to have adequate reliability when measured independently of the alcohol dependence diagnosis (Canino et al, 1999;Chatterji et al, 1997). The validity of these diagnoses has been documented in numerous studies including the World Health Organization/National Institutes of Health and Reliability and Validity Study Canino et al, 1999;Cottler et al, 1997;Pull et al, 1997;Ustun et al, 1997;Vrasti et al, 1998;Hasin et al, 1997b) and others (Hasin et al, 1997c;Hasin et al, 1997a;Grant et al, 2003;Grant et al, 1995). Further, the symptom items have been validated using clinical reappraisals conducted by psychiatrists (Canino et al, 1999); good validity of the alcohol diagnoses was documented (K = 0.60, 0.76).…”
