Reliability of self-reported willingness-to-pay and annual income in patients treated for toenail onychomycosis

Abstract: WTP and annual income demonstrated moderate and strong test-retest reliability, respectively. Self-reported WTP can serve as a reliable measure for future health economics research on onychomycosis.

“…[23][24][25] In studies of reliability, WTP and annual income demonstrated moderate and strong test-retest reliability, respectively. 26,27 This pilot study focused on eliciting preferences from patients with psoriasis rather than providing a monetary value for costs of services or therapy. We have used the amounts that patients were willing to pay to develop an understanding of the relative impact of psoriasis on domain-specific QOL.…”

“…Spearman’s correlation coefficients were estimated to examine correlation between all continuous or ordered categorical variables. As the three skin ageing gradings were ordinal categorical variables, the Fleiss–Cohen quadratic-weighted kappa (κ) statistic was chosen to calculate intraobserver and interobserver agreement, as previously reported 29. As phenotype was measured on an ordinal scale, proportional odds regression models were used to determine predictors of wrinkles, vascularity and pigmentation.…”
