Reliability modeling and prediction of Wireless Multi-Hop Networks with correlated shadowing

Abstract: Abstract-Shadowing losses on proximate wireless links have been experimentally proven to be highly correlated in various scenarios. However, most of the existing works on the reliability modeling of Wireless Multi-Hop Networks (WMHNs) assume independent link shadowing. Neglecting shadowing correlations could lead to inaccurate network simulation results and unreliable wireless system design. In this paper, we present a more realistic reliability model of WMHN that incorporates correlated link shadowing. In par… Show more

“…This spatial correlation of shadowing among proximate wireless links has been frequently observed in cellular systems [2] [3], satellite systems [4] and wireless multi-hop networks (WMHNs) [5]. Previous work shows that shadowing correlation significantly affects handover behavior [6], interference power [7], the performance of macrodiversity schemes [8], network connectivity [9] and redundant node deployment [10]. Although several models for correlated shadowing already exist, these models are not present in popular network simulators such as ns-3 [11] and QualNet [12].…”

“…The computational complexity of the ergodic network capacity is made up of the enumeration of all minimal cut-sets, ( 13), (14), and (15). The enumeration of all minimal cut-sets has a complexity of O(|L||V| 3 ) as given in [27].…”
