Reliability Constrained Unit Commitment Considering the Effect of DG and DR Program

Abstract: Due to increase in energy prices at peak periods and increase in fuel cost, involving Distributed Generation (DG) and consumption management by Demand Response (DR) will be unavoidable options for optimal system operations. Also, with high penetration of DGs and DR programs into power system operation, the reliability criterion is taken into account as one of the most important concerns of system operators in management of power system. In this paper, a Reliability Constrained Unit Commitment (RCUC) at presenc… Show more

“…Application results reveal that for the proposed unit commitment problem, the scheduling of the distributed generations and the best sizes of BBs would be completely different when the accessibility of wind energy was taken into consideration in consequence of using HN method. In [84][85][86][87][88][89][90] unit commitment problem was elucidated by considering different hybrid renewable energy systems.…”

“…For example, in the United States, long-term price elasticity by industries is 1.2 or greater, which is higher than often believed [15]. Hence, a more realistic optimization formulation for expected profit is needed and must address the elasticity of consumers [16]. To reduce the uncertainty of profit, price elasticity of consumers can be included in the RTP design.…”
