Relevance of High-caffeine Energy Drink Intake and Self-rated Health Status of the Adolescents

Abstract

This study relates to high-caffeine drink intake Self-rated health status of adolescents. The results obtained through this study were intended to be used as policy data to improve the self-rated health status of adolescents in the future. The subject of the study was the 2022 original data from the Youth Health Behavior Survey hosted by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and the Ministry of Education. The final analysis target was a total of 51,220 people. The analysis methods of the study were frequency analysis, cross-analysis, and multiple regression analysis. All statistics were verified at a significance level of p=.05. As a result of the study, the factors influencing the subjective health status of adolescents were school grade (β=-0.017, p<0.001), gender (β=-0.055, p<0.001), grades (β=-0.021, p<0.001), and economy. Level (β=-0.051, p<0.001), breakfast frequency (β=0.013, p<0.001), smoking status (β=0.016, p<0.05), degree of recovery from fatigue through sleep (β=-0.058, p< 0.001), subjective body shape perception (β=-0.032, p<0.001), stress perception (β=0.123, p<0.001), and weekly consumption of high-caffeine beverages (β=-0.011, p<0.001). Therefore, it is necessary to reduce adolescents' high-caffeine drink intake to minimize side effects and enable them to grow into healthy adults. To achieve this, it is necessary to develop a health education program targeting adolescents and parents to prevent high-caffeine dink.
