Release of Genetic Variability Through Recombination. Ii. Drosophila Persimilis

Abstract: ECOMBINATION between loci on chromosomes taken from a well adapted R population releases an extensive array of variability ( DOBZHANSKY 1946;WALLACE et al. 1953). To compare the amount of variability provided by recombination of linked genes affecting viability in two sibling species of Drosophila the experiments described here on Drosophila persimilis recombination follow the experiments in the preceding paper by SPASSKY et al. (1958) in basic plan.
