“…Other dates for the Brazilian coast have a more representative rise during this time interval, in a maximum transgression of around 5.1 ka BP, as shown by Suguio et al (1985), Martin et al (2003), Bezerra et al (2003), Caldas et al (2006), andCastro et al (2021). However, Angulo and Lessa (1997) stated that the maximum sea level, at the end of the marine transgression, was between 3.5 m and 4 m at most.…”

“…The sea level fluctuations in southern coast of Africa are detailed by Ramsay (1995), Armitage et al (2006) and Humphries et al (2016). These local sea level curves acting on coastal barriers systems appear to have similarities with those found in other regions of the Southern Hemisphere such as those by Martínez and Rojas (2013), Castro et al (2014), Angulo et al (2006), Dillenburg et al (2017), Dillenburg et al (2020), Barboza, Dillenburg, Lopes, et al (2021), Barboza, Dillenburg, do Nascimento Ritter, et al (2021), Alencar Castro et al (2021) and Angulo et al (2022). The late Holocene evolution of these coastal barrier systems presents clear similarities, and it seems that the comparison among them gives a window to discuss about climate change and relative sea level changes in the southern Hemisphere.…”
