Relative Resistance of Seed of Advance Genotypes of Cicer arietinum Against Callosobruchus Chinensis During Storage

Abstract: Pulse beetle (Callosbruchuschinesis) causes serious damage to the seed of chickpea, and other pulses during storage. Seed viability and other quality parameters are affected by its infestation. This pest is controlled by phosphine fumigation and synthetic insecticides. Unfortunately, this pest has developed resistance against these pesticides. Moreover, with application of these pesticides, chemical residues may cause severe damage to non-target organisms. Host plant resistance against insect pests is consider… Show more

“…These both have hard grain surface and internal content. Previously, Sarwar (2012) and Akhtar et al (2022) also reported that the most susceptible varieties of chickpea had soft and smooth grain surface, bigger sized and white color, whereas hard and wrinkled grain surface, small sized and brown colored varieties was found resistant against C.…”

“…Results of crude protein in our research revealed the reduction in nutritional contents. It has been found that the crude protein content is positively correlated with the grain moisture content and pest infestation (Akhtar et al, 2022).…”
