“…In line with previous studies, health status has been associated with happiness (Abbott & Wallace, 2012;Angner, Ghandhi, Purvis, Amante, & Allison, 2013;Padela & Heisler, 2010;Sabatini, 2014;Zajacova & Dowd, 2014) and life satisfaction (Barger, Donoho, & Wayment, 2009;Dubrovina, Siwiec, & Ornowski, 2012;Kim & Sok, 2012;Liang & Lu, 2014). “…One study of a convenience sample of older Koreans shows that life satisfaction is positively related to an index of social support (Kim & Sok, 2012), while another study examining a different small convenience sample shows higher life satisfaction for older Koreans living with family members as compared to persons living alone (Shin & Sok, 2011). One of the most comprehensive studies of life satisfaction among older Koreans employs the KLoSA, finding that various types of social activities (contact with children and friends, community engagement) are positively related to life satisfaction .…”

“…Having better physical and psychological health is a predictor of greater life satisfaction (Hsu, 2012), as are self-rated health and physical functional impairment (Deeg & Bath, 2003;Guti errez, Tom as, Galiana, Sancho, & Cebri a, 2013;Katz, 2009;Kim & Sok, 2012;Li et al, 2013;Li & Liang, 2007;Silverstein et al, 2006;Wilhelmson, Fritzell, Eklund, & Dahlin-Ivanoff, 2013). Having a depressive disorder is more strongly associated with less life satisfaction than physical frailty (Ghubach et al, 2010;Mel endez et al, 2009;N ı Mhaol ain et al, 2012).…”

“…Studies have found that many demographic attributes of older adults are associated with life satisfaction. For instance, age negatively affects life satisfaction among older adults (Mel endez, Tom as, Oliver, & Navarro, 2009) and is particularly associated with life satisfaction among older Korean people (Kim & Sok, 2012). Aging and the experience of older adulthood often result in a lower life satisfaction among individuals 75 years of age or older (Hermann, 2007;Mollao glu, Tuncay, & Fertelli, 2010); research also found a slightly higher life satisfaction for men (Ferring et al, 2004).…”
