“…Irrationality has been found to correlate consistently with measures of trait anxiety (LaPointe & Crandell, 1980;Lohr 8t Bonge, 1981) and test anxiety (Goldfried & Sobocinski, 1975;Trexler & Karst, 1973), but inconsistently with measures of speech anxiety (Goldfried & Sobocinski, 1975;Lohr & Rea, 1981) and social anxiety (Curran, Wallender, & Fischetti, 1980;Glass, Merluzzi, Biever, & Larsen, 1982;Goldfried & Sobocinski, 1975;Gormally, Sipps, Raphael, Edwin, & Varvil-Weld, I98 1;SuttonSimon & Goldfried, 1979). While only two studies have examined the association between the IBT and self-reported depressive symptomatology, both found the expected positive relationship (LaPointe & Crandell, 1980;Nelson, 1977).
