Background: Abdominal pain is one of the most common presented symptoms to the medical services, and some of them are assumed to be due to cholecystolithiasis. Helicobacter Pylori (H. pylori) gastritis can cause equal symptoms as cholecystolithiasis. A lot of researches in the field are trying to clarify the misdirection, as this will change the management for cholecystolithiasis patients. Methods: In this retrospective study from October 2018 till July 2019 at Al Ain Hospital, United Arab Emirates, a coincidence of having H. pylori infection in the presence of gallstones was investigated, and if a routine testing for H. pylori was done. Results: Total number of 159 cases from different nationalities, majority were United Arab Emirates locals were assembled and investigated. Although the majority of the studied group were not investigated for H.pylori, and around 30 patients were investigated, Results showed a 36% rate of positivity of H.pylori among the investigated people, which is similar to the other researches in this field. Majority of the H.pylori testing were done via antigen stool test analysis, as its inexpensive method, reliable and appropriate. Conclusion: Data showed that still Helicobacter testing is not routinely done, however a high infection rate similar like other studies detected. More awareness and further studies recommended.

Helicobacter pylori is a gram-negative, micro-aerobic, spiral-shaped bacteria which is considered one of the main factors that lead to stomach disorders such as gastric atrophy, stomach cancer, chronic gastritis, and peptic ulcers. The present study was carried out in Nineveh Governorate, Iraq. The sample of the study included 325 participants. After conducting a series of tests to detect whether H. pylori infection is positive among the participants, it has been shown that the number of infected participants were150 (48 males and 102 females), then complete Blood Counts test have been done in order to investigate the relationship between the Component Blood Count and the infection of H. pylori.Based on the results, it is concluded that H. pylori infection is more prevalent in females. Also, the percentage of infection decreases in ages over 60 years and in children less than 15 years. Moreover, it is revealed that the incidence of H. pylori infection increases in people with blood type A. Finally, the study doesn't show any effect of smoking on the increased risk of infection with H. pylori. In this study, the infected patients with H. pylori recorded an increase in WBCs equal to 24%, while lymphocyte counts didn't record any changes, RBCs were increased by 12%, some infected patients had fluctuations of increase and decrease in the level of Hb, the figures were between 8% and 24%, respectively, the increase in the platelet count was 12%, and the decrease was 4%. Hence, there are significant differences in the relationship between infection with H. pylori and other factors such as; gender, age, WBCs, lymphocyte counts, RBCs, Hb, and platelet counts in the infected group at P ≤ 0.05.

Background. The occurrence of stones in the gallbladder or common bile duct and the symptoms and complications they cause is called gallstone disease. The symptoms of gallstone disease range from mild, nonspecific symptoms to a severe right quadrant abdominal pain. Characteristics of gallstone types in an Iranian population have not been well studied before and there are very limited studies on the demographic pattern of stone types in our country, so this study is one of the first studies on its kind on the epidemiology of gallstone types in Iran. As information on chemical components of the stone will help in the management and prevention of gallstones, in this study, we aimed to do chemical component analysis of gallstones including cholesterol, bilirubin, and calcium. Given the conflicting reports about the relationship between H. pylori infections and gallstone formation, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between H. pylori positivity in the bile specimen of Iranian patients with cholelithiasis and formation and type of stone. Methods. This prospective study reviewed a total of 196 patients who underwent cholecystectomy for symptomatic cholelithiasis at Shahid Beheshti Training and Research Hospital affiliated to the Yasuj University of Medical Sciences between September 2015 and May 2018. Chemical analysis of gallstone components performed using the colorimetry method. Microbiological analysis for H. pylori was done using the OnSite H. pylori Ag Rapid Test on the bile sample. For the validation test of bile, the H. pylori Rapid Stool Ag Test on stool was used, and Cohen’s Kappa statistical analysis was done next. Results. There were significant associations between the stone types and age, chemical composition of the stones such as calcium, cholesterol, and bilirubin levels, and also H. pylori positivity and cholesterol and bilirubin levels; however, no significant association was found between the stone types and sex, H. pylori positivity and age, sex, stone types, and calcium level. The main bile and validity tests were matched to the substantial agreement according to Cohen’s Kappa analysis. The most common drugs used were proton pump inhibitors, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antihypertensive drugs, and oral contraceptives. Conclusions. This study suggested that the chemical composition of the stones could predict the presence of bacteria, there is no correlation between H. pylori and gallstone formation, and some of the drugs could be predisposing factors for gallstones. This work provides an objective basis for further research into gallbladder stone formation; meanwhile, it has great significance in the treatment and prevention of gallbladder stones.
