Relationship between coronary tortuosity and plateletcrit coronary tortuosity and plateletcrit

Abstract: SummaryBackgroundCoronary tortuosity (CorT) is a common angiographic finding and may be associated with myocardial ischaemia, even without coronary artery disease. Platelets play a crucial role in inflammatory and thrombotic processes and the physiopathology of cardiovascular disease. Larger platelets are more active enzymatically and have higher thrombotic ability compared to smaller platelets. Plateletcrit (PCT) provides complete information on total platelet mass. We aimed to evaluate the relationship betwe… Show more

“…During exercise, CT may represent greater resistance to blood flow, in such a way that compensatory mechanisms of flow adjustment may not be enough to keep an adequate flow and lead to myocardial ischemia 18 . Furthermore, CT was associated with increased Plateletcrit, mean platelet volume, platelet:large-cell ratio, neutrophil:lymphocyte ratio and platelet:lymphocyte ratio, even in the absence of coronary artery disease 19 . So patients with CT may have exercise related chest pain and positive stress ECG in accordance with our study.…”

“…Platelet distribution width (PDW), another marker of platelet activation, indicates variation in platelet dimensions (14,15). Plateletcrit (PCT) provides more comprehensive information about the total thrombocyte mass (16). It is similar to the red cell haematocrit and indicates the percentage of the blood produced by the platelets (17,18).…”

“…High P-LCR levels were found statistically significant in a study that investigated the relationship between the P-LCR levels and coronary tortuosity; the finding showing the presence of myocardial ischemia even if coronary artery disease was not present. 13 The most important point of this study is the exclusion of aspirintreated patients, unlike other ACS studies.…”
