Relationship between Animal Models and Clinical Research: Using Mucositis As A Practical Example

Abstract: Mucositis is a major clinical problem in oncology, caused by the cytotoxic effects of cancer chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The strong relationship between animal investigation and translation to the clinical setting has provided medical research fraternity with an opportunity to conduct effective research in the field of oncology. This article describes the use of animal models for research of the clinical problem of mucositis.
