Relational Wellbeing in the Lives of Young Refugees

Abstract

He has 20 years of research experience on the care and protection of unaccompanied asylum seeking children and trafficked young people in Europe, focussing on guardianship, social work, asylum determination and foster care. Ravi has published widely in the field of forced migration and children. He is a consultant to international NGOs, and UK Government agencies regarding issues of resettlement of young asylum seekers. In 2013 appointed as a specialist adviser to the UK Parliament's Joint Committee on Human Rights on the human rights of separated children. In 2015, he completed the first UK based study on the quality of legal advice and decision making for unaccompanied and trafficked children. In 2018 he provided expert advice to the British Parliament on a review of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Ravi is the Project leader for NordForsk-funded project Relational Wellbeing in the Lives of Young Refugees in Finland, Norway and Scotland. (2020 to 2024). Marte Knag FylkesnesMarte Knag Fylkesnes is a social worker and Senior Researcher at the Regional Center for Child and Youth Mental Health and Child Welfare (RKBU West) in Bergen, Norway. Her work focus is on migration and family life, equal welfare services and children's and families' experiences in contact with child welfare services. Marte has worked on topics such as cultural sensitivity, foster care and mental health, assessment in child welfare work, emergency work in child welfare, the connection between migration, social networks and well-being for unaccompanied minor refugees as well as migration and foster care. Her interests include migration and refugee research; child welfare and social justice; participation.
