“…To move the understanding of cascading resilience forward, integration of systems is crucial (Masten & Monn, ). Although broad systems theories such as ecological systems theory (Bronfenbrenner, ; Bronfenbrenner & Morris, ) and the relational developmental systems model (Lerner, Johnson, & Buckingham, ) have conceptually compelling formulations, they are general theories with limited ability to guide the design of prevention interventions or to generate specific hypotheses (Doherty, Boss, LaRossa, Schumm, & Steinmetz, ; Earp & Ennett, ). Therefore, to explain the processes involved in cascading resilience, we propose a middle‐range conceptual model (e.g., focused on a particular content area; Doherty et al, ) to articulate the processes by which parenting interventions instigate positive change that spills over into individual systems, family systems, and community systems.…”
