“…As reported by Roche et al, pKa1 and pKa2 values of esomeprazole are 4.06 and 0.79, respectively, and the values of pantoprazole are 3.83 and 0.11 [20, 21]. In addition, reports showed younger age and alcohol consumption had positive effects on H. pylori eradication [22, 23]. We also observed a similar correlation in our study.…”

“…Baena et al [82] studied another coherence of H. pylori infection and alcohol consumption. The daily alcohol consumption was the only variable signifi cantly associated with the success rate of eradication therapy, with a higher probability of failure in non-consumers (29.9%) than in consumers (12.2%), the adjusted odds ratio was 3.24.…”

“…The role of alcoholic beverages in defence against H. pylori infection has been reported widely (Murray et al ; Kuepper‐Nybelen et al ; Gao et al ). Daily moderate alcohol consumption appears to have an additive effect in the triple eradication therapy (Baena et al ). In this work, synergistic effect of resveratrol and alcohol has been identified, which would add an additional explanation for the anti‐ H. pylori effect of red wine.…”
