RELA promotes the progression of oral squamous cell carcinoma via TFAP2A‐Wnt/β‐catenin signaling

Abstract: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has emerged as the most prevailing oral malignancy worldwide, characterized by cervical solid lymph node metastasis and strong local invasiveness. Overexpression of Transcription Factor AP-2 alpha (TFAP2A) is observed in a significant proportion of OSCC cases. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the function of TFAP2A in the progression of OSCC and the related molecular signaling pathways. The role of RELA was predicted using bioinformatics analysis. The mRNA abundances of … Show more

“…Dysregulated pathway activity in OSCC may modulate immune responses and in uence the tumor microenvironment. Mechanisms of dysregulation include APC mutations leading to constitutive activation, β-catenin mutations promoting its stabilization and nuclear translocation, and WNT ligand overexpression contributing to sustained pathway activation [135]. Cross-talk with the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway ampli es cellular responses in OSCC.…”

“…Transcription factor AP-2α (AP-2α) is a well-established transcription factor in cells 11 , responsible for various physiological and pathological processes, including nephron segment development, neural crest development, ferroptosis, and Wnt pathway, etc. 12 15 . However, the function of AP-2α in malignant tumors remains controversial: it was recognized as a predominant oncogene that promotes metastasis in multiple cancer types, including lung squamous cell carcinoma, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, and bladder cancer 16 18 .…”
