Reinforcement of irradiated waste polyamide/reclaimed rubber powder composites with glass fiber

Abstract: This article presents a preliminary investigation on the effects of gamma radiation and incorporating glass fiber (GF) into recycled polyamide/waste rubber powder (50/50) on mechanical, thermal properties. The samples were characterized by mechanical and thermal behaviors of the composites in different proportions. The incorporation of GF was found to improve the elastic modulus, tensile, and thermal properties and also improved by irradiation. POLYM. “…Gamma radiation‐induced free radicals in all ingredient of various composites as reported in literature and our previous work and suggested modes of free radical generation on irradiated WPE and WR which contain various ingredients like SBR, NBR, and NR and AC. Radicals are formed after bond cleavages as shown in Scheme .…”

“…The results showed that the durability of MWCNT‐reinforced specimens has been significantly improved. Hassan et al [ 13 ] presented the mechanical and thermal behaviors of irradiated waste polyamide/reclaimed rubber powder composites with glass fiber reinforcement. The results indicated that glass fiber reinforcement can improve the elastic modulus, tensile, and thermal properties of the specimens.…”

“…Consequently, there is a need to find a solution for the valuation and employment of this waste product. Efforts are being made to reuse or recycle waste polyamide [40][41][42]. With regard to the use of polyamide powder in construction materials, some previous analyses have been conducted about the characterization of recycled mortars with polyamide powder waste, analyzing their durability and their microstructure [39,43,44].…”
