Reindeer Husbandry in the Arctic: Problems and Development Trends

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the state and development of the livestock industry of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), in particular, the traditional reindeer husbandry industry for the Arctic regions. The results of the review of the dynamics of animal husbandry in the republic from 1990 to 2021 with the periodization of the development of the industry, as well as indicators by types of livestock and all types of farms are presented. A general analysis of the dynamics of reindeer husbandry development was carried out in the context of the regions of the Arctic zone of the republic, with gradation by the number of reindeer herding enterprises.
