Ecosystem services are the basis of human development and existence. The resilience and balance of ecosystems is the key to the well-being and comfort of the human race, but their role and value of services provided is often underestimated. The aim of the given research is to conduct economic assessment of ecosystem services of natural plant associations of the selected area – Pluzhne forestry. Forests are known to provide the most diverse and comprehensive complex of ecosystem services and thus represent complicated object for assessment. The first step of the assessment included formulation of the list of ecosystem services to be included into the assessment procedure, giving priority to the most well-studied. The second step was aimed at determination of the unit prices for the chosen services. They were elaborated based on similar valuations, sufficiently supported by research data. The resulted cost of ecosystem services provided were compared to the assessments, performed for forest ecosystems in Ukraine and European countries, which is an element of novelty and originality. Although there are noticeable deviations in specific value of ecosystem services per unit of forest area, the general trend in consistent with European experience. The reasons of differences could be explained by the choice of approaches to unit prices evaluation and list of services included into assessment. The obtained data are important for raising awareness of local population and authorities about the importance of ecosystems functioning and need to invest resources in their support and protection. Research works of such kind are still rare in Ukrainian academic sphere despite their high importance for efficient management of environment quality and use. Thus, there is a clear need develop this research field and the given research contributes theoretical and applied provisions for further assessments of such kind.

The article highlights the results of research on the state of forest nectar-pollinating plantations and prospects for the development of forestry and beekeeping in the system of the regional eco-network of Eastern Podillia. One of the conditions of Ukraine's European integration is the implementation of measures to comprehensively preserve the biolandscape diversity of the regions, as well as the implementation of greening of production, in particular, forestry on the basis of the inexhaustible use of natural resources. Forestry is characterized by a wide range of production of raw materials, including nectar and pollen, the products of which are processed by honey bees (honey, bee pollen, royal jelly, etc.) are in high demand among the population. Providing their food needs at the expense of forest nectar-polliniferous, bees also maintain ecological balance by preserving their existence. In terms of the forest fund of Eastern Podillia, there are 215,488.1 hectares of land, of which 61% are operational forests, 15% are protective forests, 17% are recreational and health forests, and 7% are nature conservation, scientific, historical and cultural forests. The area of nectarbearing plantations is from 0.8 ha, and mixed plantations - from 0.3 ha to 5.7 ha. Nectaro-pollenbearing forest plantations of Eastern Podillia are represented by 37 introduced tree species. The main nectar- and pollen-bearing plantations of Eastern Podillia include: linden, broadleaved linden, white acacia, varieties of maples, from the nectar and pollen of which bees produce both fodder and commercial honey. Other pollinators provide the bees with a supporting bribe, which makes it possible to provide these insects with food.

This paper aims to study the sustainable development of forest food by exploring the input–output relationship of forest food value chains (FFVC) and its mediating effect on the integrity and agglomeration of FFVC. Through a literature review and interviews with experts, this paper included measurement variables, such as FFVC’s input, output, integrity, and agglomeration, and used PLS-SEM to study their relationships and the mediating effects of Chinese FFVC. The results showed that first, the measurement of FFVC’s integrity and agglomeration focused on FFVC’s rationality, development, comparative advantages, scale, space, network, and innovation; second, there was evidence of a significant input–output relationship of FFVC; third, there was a significant mediating effect of integrity and agglomeration of FFVC, which should be included in the government’s policies to promote FFVC; forth, Chinese FFVC is still at its infancy, and the government must implement FFVC sustainable development policies to promote the rationalization, upgrading, and spatial coupling of integrity and agglomeration of FFVC.
