Abstract: Osteocytes are the primary mechano-sensitive cell type in bone. Mechanical loading is sensed across the dendritic projections of osteocytes leading to transient reductions in focal adhesion kinase (FAK) activity. Knowledge regarding the signaling pathways downstream of FAK in osteocytes is incomplete.
