Regulation of Sox8 through lncRNA Mrhl-Mediated Chromatin Looping in Mouse Spermatogonia

Abstract: Sox8 is a developmentally important transcription factor that plays an important role in sex maintenance and fertility of adult mice. In the B-type spermatogonial cells, Sox8 is regulated by the long noncoding RNAs (lncRNA) Mrhl in a p68-dependant manner under the control of the Wnt signaling pathway. The downregulation of Mrhl leads to the meiotic commitment of the spermatogonial cells in a Sox8 -depend… Show more

“…The transcription factor SOX8, which belongs to the SRY-related HMG Box (SOX) family, was initially discovered as the sex determination gene and has been found to play a role in the fertility of adult mice [ 25 ]. Recent studies have revealed that SOX8 possesses a distinct capability to govern the development of the ear [ 26 ], as well as the differentiation of M cells and the activation of mucosal immune responses mediated by IgA [ 27 ].…”
