“…The combination of epoxidized oils and renewable acids was never considered in biopolyester blends and composites, with the exception of Liu et al [ 48 ]. This paper reported the use of polyphenolic tannic acid crosslinked epoxidized soybean oil oligomers for strengthening and toughening bamboo fibers reinforced PLA biocomposites.…”

“…This is mainly because with the increase of ESO-SA 12 content, parts of ESO-SA 12 oligomer started to disperse within PLA matrix, which can significantly increase the chain mobility of PLA due to the plasticizing effect of ESO-SA 12 oligomer. 20 With the ESO-SA 12 content increasing from 4 to 16%, the Χ c of PLA decreased from 39.68 to 21.46%, confirming the strong heterogeneous nucleation effect of BFs' surfaces. While, with the BFs' surfaces modified by ESO-SA 12 , the heterogeneous nucleation sites for PLA were reduced, thereby reducing the crystallinity of PLA.…”

“…These two reasons can lead to the reduction of the PLA matrix strength and the composites. 20 The EB and the IS of the unmodified PLA/BF composite were 1.65% and 5.8 KJ/m 2 , respectively. Considerable increases in the EB and TS of the composites were achieved with the increase of the ESO-SA content.…”

“…Tannic acid improves interfacial adhesion in composites and as a result—mechanical properties of ones. Therefore, it could be used in polymer biocomposites production [ 273 , 274 ]. Chitosan/tannic acid coatings applied on biocomposites fillers increase the fire resistance of biocomposites.…”
