Regularization-Based 2D Strain Tensor Imaging in Quasi-Static Ultrasound Elastography SAGE Publications

Abstract: Accurately estimating all strain components in quasi-static ultrasound elastography is crucial for the full analysis of biological media. In this study, 2D strain tensor imaging was investigated, focusing on the use of a regularization method to improve strain images. This method enforces the tissue property of (quasi-) incompressibility, while penalizing strong field variations, to smooth the displacement fields and reduce the noise in the strain components. The performance of the method was assessed with num… Show more

“…The quality of reconstruction results in elastography is also highly sensitive to the noise induced from image processing method 34 indeed, Accurately estimating all strain components in quasi-static ultrasound elastography is crucial for the full analysis of biological media. 35 A reasonable image motion tracking method which produce displacement field or strain filed is able to improve the quality of the reconstruction. It also should be compatible with reconstructed method.…”

“…Other techniques, such as the use of dynamic programming elastography in conjunction with Horn-Schunck optical flow estimation [14], Kalman and nonlinear complex diffusion filters [15], beamforming with transverse oscillations [16], [17], and 2D strain tensor regularization method [18], may also be used to improve the rotation elastogram quality.…”

“…Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is a common intervention method for breast cancer patients, which is widely used in newly treated patients without metastasis and belongs to the category of systemic chemotherapy [2]. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy can promote downstaging of breast cancer patients, improve surgical resection rate, breast conservation rate, and improve the quality of life of patients, and most patients can bene t from it [3][4]. However, due to the different types of breast cancer, some patients are not sensitive to neoadjuvant chemotherapy drugs, which increases the toxic and side effects caused by chemotherapy and misses the opportunity of surgery [5].…”
