Regular and moderate aerobic training before allergic asthma induction reduces lung inflammation and remodeling

Abstract: Experimental studies have reported that aerobic exercise after asthma induction reduces lung inflammation and remodeling. Nevertheless, no experimental study has analyzed whether regular/moderate aerobic training before the induction of allergic asthma may prevent these inflammatory and remodeling processes. For this purpose, BALB/c mice (n = 96) were assigned into non-trained and trained groups. Trained animals ran on a motorized treadmill at moderate intensity, 30 min/day, 3 times/week, for 8 weeks, and were… Show more

“…Interleukin-10 (IL-10) is an immunomodulatory cytokine which is produced by a variety of cells, such as regulatory T lymphocytes subsets, monocytes, activated macrophages and other cells [ 1 ]. IL-10 predominantly induces immune tolerance and plays beneficial roles in some physiological and pathological processes such as pregnancy, tissue homeostasis and allergic diseases [ 2 – 5 ]. But in some cases, IL-10 is detrimental.…”

“…According to previous studies, immune dysfunction and abnormal expression of inflammation factors are closely associated with capillary bronchial asthma, bronchitis and other infant asthmatic diseases (28)(29)(30). Notably, Li et al (31) have demonstrated that the PKA-dependent NF-κB signaling pathway is a novel target for drug action in asthma therapy.…”

“…The authors hypothesized that airway LXA 4 increases to compensate bronchoconstriction and to suppress acute inflammation, and that spontaneous bronchodilation after EIB may be due to LXA 4 . In murine studies in relation to asthma, physical exercise reduced asthma associated bronchial inflammation (IL-4, IL-5 expression and eosinophil infiltrate) which was associated with an increase of IL-10 (272, 273). Exercise in animal models of colitis also reduced levels of TNF-α, and decreased markers of oxidative stress and histological damage to the colon in parallel to increased levels of the resolution-promoting and anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 (274).…”
