PD 05064 (Reg. No. GP‐990, PI 674426), PD 05069 (Reg. No. GP‐991, PI 674427), PD 05070 (Reg. No. GP‐992, PI 674428), and PD 05071 (Reg. No. GP‐993, PI 674429) are noncommercial breeding lines of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) jointly released by the USDA‐ARS, the Clemson University Experiment Station, and Cotton Incorporated in 2014. PD 05064, PD 05069, PD 05070, and PD 05071 are full‐sib breeding lines selected from a cross of PD 94042 and Fibermax 989. PD 05064, PD 05069, PD 05070, and PD 05071 possess broad adaptation and display outstanding fiber quality properties significantly better than several commercial cultivars. Specifically, they possess outstanding fiber strength and length potential, while displaying excellent fiber spinning characteristics superior to commercial cultivars. The four lines display full season maturity and produce lint yields similar to or better than commercial cultivars. PD 05064, PD 05069, PD 05070, and PD 05071 are broadly adapted across the US upland cotton production region. The combination of high yield potential, excellent fiber quality, and superior fiber spinning performance make these four lines valuable genetic resources to cotton breeding programs.
