Even though there are several reports indicating that certain QPM cultivars can be equal to the yields of conventional cultivars now under cultivation in developing countries and that several experimental cultivars performed better than the checks in several regions of the world (National Research Council, 1988; Badu‐Apraku et al, 2006), such reports are limited in WCA. There is a need to assess how the available QPM cultivars in the IITA maize program measure up to their normal counterparts, and to carry out extensive testing of the available QPM cultivars to promote their adoption by farmers in WCA.…”
