Abstract:In this article, I explore the functional varieties of language, i.e. registers (or genres), used in different school subjects and university disciplines, examining the ranges of registers used in a selection of subjects and disciplines -their registerial profiles. I draw on Giovanni Parodi's research into registerial profiles of university disciplines and on systemic functional work on registerial profiles of school subjects, showing how they complement one another. I sketch an outline of a comprehensive view… Show more

The utilisation of technology in education is revolutionising the learning process in the era of digitalisation. E-learning has revolutionised education via internet platforms, digital documents, and electronic resources. This study examines the perspectives and utilisation of e-learning resources by faculty members with a Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) degree. The integration of technology into teaching methods is pertinent for higher educational institutions. Course Evaluation: This study pertains to the topic of 'Understanding Disciplines and School Subjects,' thus making it pertinent to the field of education. The study's findings can assist B. Ed faculty members in evaluating the suitability of e-learning materials for their course requirements. Research objectives: To investigate the perceptions of B. Ed faculty members regarding the quality, accessibility, and usability of e-learning materials about this subject. The study population consisted of all faculty members of the B. Ed. programme at Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu during 2023. Study Sample: The study sample consisted of forty-two faculty members from Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University who were selected using a cluster sampling technique. The study utilised a questionnaire to gather data. Many faculty members responded positively to the survey about their previous experience with e-learning and their utilisation of e-learning resources in their teaching of the B. Ed programme. They also expressed their comfort in using technology for teaching purposes. Gaining insight into the viewpoints of B. Ed faculty members regarding e-learning materials is crucial for improving the overall quality of education. This study's findings can enhance and optimise the content and delivery of e-learning resources.

“…Research related to 'understanding disciplines and school subjects' in B.Ed. Matthiessen [7] studied the works of Giovanni Parodi, specifically his Registerial profiles of school topics and university specialities in cartography. Enrollments at educational institutions, including schools and universities, are accounted for.…”
The main goal of teacher education programs, like the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), is to develop a deep understanding of different disciplines and academic subjects. To become effective teachers, a broad knowledge of various academic disciplines and subjects is crucial for students pursuing a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree. The course 'Understanding the Disciplines and Academic Subjects' is primarily offered in the B.Ed program for this purpose. This study examines faculty members' perceptions of a specific course and their challenges when teaching sub-topics. Research Question: What is the perception of B.Ed faculty members at Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University regarding the course 'Understanding Disciplines and School Subjects' in the B.Ed programme? What are the perceptions of B.Ed faculty members at Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University regarding the sub-topics of the course 'Understanding Disciplines and School Subjects' in the B.Ed programme? Research objectives: This study aims to investigate the perceptions of B.Ed faculty members regarding the course "Understanding Disciplines and School Subjects" in the B.Ed program at Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University. The study population consisted of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University faculty members who taught in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu in 2023. In the Cuddalore district of Tamilnadu, 30 colleges offer B.Ed programmes. These colleges employ approximately 420 faculty members. Study Sample: The researchers chose 42 faculty members who were teaching B.Ed. at Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu in 2023. The study employed cluster sampling as the sampling technique. A random sample of five out of thirty colleges was chosen, and all faculty members teaching in these colleges were included in the investigation. Hypothesis: The perceptions of B.Ed. faculty members regarding the importance of learning the subject 'Understanding Disciplines and School Subjects' exhibit a slight difference. The study's findings will assist educators in developing pedagogical strategies and adapting the teaching-learning process to enhance course comprehension.
“…Potential e-learners must understand the pros and pitfalls of e-learning in both contexts, which may affect their grades. Register cartography, and Giovanni Parodi's Registerial profiles of school topics and university specialties were studied by Matthiessen [13].…”
Section: Researches Related To E-learning In Generalmentioning
Understanding the research problem and structuring the study is more accessible with a conceptual framework. Technology-driven teaching and learning are transforming education in the digital age. E-learning, which uses internet platforms, digital documents, and electronic resources, has transformed education. In this context, B. Ed students—future educators—must be asked about e-learning materials for professional development. Recent years have seen a rise in e-learning and digital instructional tools. E-learning resources' perspectives and use by B.Ed students are examined in this study. It is relevant when higher educational institutions integrate technology into their teaching methods. Course-Specific Evaluation: This study focuses on 'Understanding Disciplines and School Subjects,' which makes it relevant to education. The study's findings can help B.Ed students determine whether e-learning materials fit their course requirements. Research objectives: To understand B.Ed students' perception of the content quality, accessibility and usability of e-learning materials for this subject. Population of the Study: All B.Ed. Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University students in the Cuddalore district of Tamilnadu during 2023 constituted the study population. Sample of the Study: The investigators selected five hundred and twenty-three B.Ed. Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University students as the study sample using a cluster sampling technique. The questionnaire was used to collect data for this study. A significant proportion of students responded affirmatively to the inquiry regarding their prior experience with e-learning, affirmatively to the inquiry regarding their prior utilisation of e-learning resources in their B.Ed programme, comfortable using technology for learning purposes, and most preferred 'Video lectures'. Recommendations: B.Ed students recommend e-learning diversity. Multimedia, interactive modules, and real-world images can meet diverse learning styles and interest students. Higher educational institutions should collect student feedback on e-learning products. This feedback enables quick student-specific modifications.
