Regioselective Rh-Catalyzed Hydroformylation of 1,1,3-Trisubstituted Allenes Using BisDiazaPhos Ligand

Abstract: The efficient hydroformylation of 1,1,3-trisubstituted allenes is accomplished with low loadings of a Rh catalyst supported by a BisDiazaPhos (BDP) ligand. The ligand identity is key to achieving high regioselectivity, while the mild reaction conditions minimize competing isomerization and hydrogenation to produce β,γ-unsaturated aldehydes and their derivatives in excellent yields.

“…Using BisDiazaphos ligand, the reaction was performed regioselectively on the terminal carbon of the allene under 10 bar of CO/H 2 (1:1). 197 Carbon dioxide was also used as an electrophile with palladium catalysts. Thus, Iwasawa published the hydrocarboxylation on the more substituted carbon of 1,2disubstituted terminal allenes with a silyl pincer-type palladium complex (Scheme 90).…”
