Regional Classification of Serbian Railway Transport System Through Efficient Synthetic Indicator

Abstract: The railway transport system is one of the most important elements in the development of the economy and the social space of any area. The main objective of the study is to analyse the regional differentiation in railway development in Serbia with causal interference. The research has been conducted based on secondary data collected from multiple sources, and the existing synthetic Indicator was applied to classify eight states based on their railway infrastructural status. An alternative synthetic indicator a… Show more

“…From this analysis, it was discerned that the province-wise distribution of railway infrastructure (encompassing both railway stations and tracks) in Iran does not adhere to a normal distribution. The Q-Q plot, a widely-acknowledged method for evaluating normality, substantiates this observation [20][21][22]. Given the non-normal nature of the data, the median centre of railway stations was identified using geospatial techniques.…”

“…It is noteworthy that the geological composition along the corridor exhibits significant variability, necessitating tailored construction methodologies that consider potential influences on groundwater levels, soil erosion, and geological stability. It is therefore incumbent upon environmental susceptibility studies to evaluate biodiversity, water resources, air quality, and noise pollution when estimating potential environmental consequences (Roy et al, 2023e). An integrated approach that incorporates land use planning and environmental sustainability is pivotal for the attainment of sustainable development while concurrently minimizing disruptions to socioeconomic activities and any adverse effects on land productivity.…”
