“…Therefore IGBT based FFE converters have replaced most of the thyristor based line regenerative converters especially at relatively low power applications and present a very strong competitor to AFE in several industrial applications especially those that don't necessitate low input current harmonics and precise DC bus voltage control. To the best of these authors knowledge, in spite of the fact that the IGBT based FFE motor-drive systems are wide spread in numerous industrial applications, they have not been fully studied and analyzed as compared to the earlier thyristor based line regenerative converters or modern AFE converters which have been extensively addressed and analyzed, [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]. Therefore, the intention of this paper is to bridge this gap in the literature by providing an in-depth study to provide a mathematical analysis to the IGBT based FFE converters, and to provide a closed form solution of the current waveforms that can be utilized in an online adaptive control algorithm to guarantee best performance and high reliability.…”
