Abstract: Detailed derivations are given of the basic equations and methods available for the analysis of transverse MHD flow when Hall currents are not suppressed. The gas flow is taken to be incompressible and viscous with uniform tensor conductivity and arbitrary magnetic Reynold's number. The magnetic field is perpendicular to the flow and has variable strength. Analytical solutions can be obtained either in terms of the induced magnetic field or from two types of electric potential. The relevant set of suitable sim… Show more

“…[21] Plankton It is noteworthy that many abundant phytoplankton and zooplankton species of the western Indian Ocean are luminous. [6,15,20] The 10-fold BP variation characterized the scale of the western tropical Indian Ocean. The latitudinal pattern implied the weakening of BP from the northern Arabian Sea towards the equatorial region (Figure 2).…”

“…As far as the bioluminescence of the tropical Indian Ocean is concerned, we are not aware of any contemporary publications in this field. Several older publications featured bathyphotometric measurements carried out in the 1980s, [14,15] although some casts were deployed in coastal waters of Sri Lanka in 2016. [16] In addressing the issue of multiple-scale variability, first we aimed to understand the bioluminescence on a mesoscale that contributes gradually to spatiotemporal variations of structural characteristics of the Indian Ocean plankton communities.…”
