CLIL programs at the university level are usually associated with ESP courses, we analyze the case regards to the position of CLIL and ESP in Tourism study. As CLIL programs are promoted to improve students’ language proficiency in English, we explore the importance of language learning in these programs and the implications derived from ESP. Data were obtained from class observation and also lecturer and student views on CLIL expressed in focus groups and a questionnaire. Findings show imprecise guidelines for CLIL implementation. Although we can observe a well-organized shift from ESP to CLIL, lecturer and student perspectives provide useful insights for action that can be taken by ESP course designers to adapt courses to make them more relevant to students’ discipline-related needs. Deal with these findings, we propose engaging in collaboration with content lecturers to advance Tourism Department’s graduates’ proficiency in English.

Most of the EFL learners faced problems delivering ideas to other people, especially in discussion sessions. They need guidance to fix their flaws. Instructional podcasts can be a valuable resource for enhancing speaking abilities, especially in conducting debate. By manipulating the content of the podcasts, educators can create engaging and interactive speaking activities that promote language production and fluency. Whether it is through guided discussion, interactive tasks, or role-playing activities, instructional podcasts provide students with the opportunity to practice their speaking skills in a meaningful and enjoyable way. By incorporating these strategies into language learning curricula, educators can empower students to become confident and proficient speakers. Through the exposure of some perspectives and the adaptation of a qualitative method for using podcast materials to enhance the students’ success in discussion, it can be concluded that the students’ abilities in delivering ideas are developed in discussion sessions. This kind of finding is beneficial for teachers teaching-related subjects. It also inspires other researchers to observe related topics.

The teaching evaluation module is an important guarantee of teaching effectiveness, and as an important part of the multimedia teaching system, it needs special attention. This paper combines artificial intelligence and multimedia teaching effect evaluation, proposes a foreign language translation multimedia teaching effect evaluation model based on improved support vector machine (SVM) algorithm, and provides theoretical support for the construction of foreign language translation multimedia teaching effect evaluation system. The results show that the accuracy of this assessment algorithm is improved by 22.18% compared with the traditional assessment algorithm. Therefore, it is theoretically feasible to use the improved SVM to analyse the application effect of multimedia teaching mode in foreign language translation teaching. It can be found that the automatic acquisition of model data, the cumulative search of spatial knowledge and the adaptive control of the search phase of the optimised SVM algorithm have also been significantly improved, and conclusions drawn are more reliable.
