Reflectance-based detection of oxidizers in ambient air

Abstract: a b s t r a c tThis study used two types of paper supported materials with a prototype, reflectance-based detector for indication of hydrogen peroxide vapor under ambient laboratory conditions. Titanyl based indicators provide detection through reaction of the indicator resulting in a dosimeter type sensor, while porphyrin based indicators provide a reversible interaction more suitable to continuous monitoring applications. These indicators provide the basis for discussion of characteristics important to desig… Show more

“…PT3 is an early version of the prototype under development (Supplementary Materials, Figure S1). It was primarily designed to provide a system for screening of multiple indicator materials simultaneously, and it has been described in previous publications [2,3]. Details for this prototype are provided in the Supplementary Materials.…”

“…Silver chloride (CAS 7783-90-6) was obtained from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA). The metalloporphyrin construct, AgN 4 TPP, used for collection of all data reported here, was prepared by reflux as previously reported [2,3,20]. Paper supported porphyrin indicator was prepared using a dip and dry technique.…”
