Abstract:The reaction of 3,3,3-trifluoro-1-(2-thenoyl)acetone with sulfur-hydrazine hydrate-alkali and hydrazine hydrate-alkali systems is effected by reductive fission of the trifluoroacetyl group and leads to the formation of nitrogen-containing derivatives of 2-acetylthiophene. Sodium polysulfide assists the reductive fission of 3,3,3-trifluoro-1-(2-thenoyl)acetone.
