Reductions and pronounced regional differences in morphine distribution in the United States

Abstract: BackgroundMorphine is one of the oldest, most commonly prescribed, and widely used opioids in the United States (US). Morphine’s potent analgesic properties have also been associated with the increase in misuse, addiction and opioid-related deaths in the US since the 1990s.
