Reducing yarn hairiness in ring spinning by an agent-aided system

Abstract: An agent-aided system (AAS) for improving comprehensive properties of ring spun yarns with the aid of viscosity and surface tension of the agent is reported in this paper. The mechanism of the humidification and friction process of the AAS was investigated, and related experiments were also carried out to verify the mechanism of analysis. The results confirm that the AAS can attach the fiber ends protruding out of a yarn body on the yarn surface and assist in twisting the fiber ends back into the interior of t… Show more

“…The cylinder of the AARS can rotate driven by the motor and bring the solution in the container to the surface of the fibrous strand at the contact region of the cylinder and the fibrous strand. 18 During the twisting process after the drafting of a roving, the fibrous strand rotates around its axis in the yarn formation zone between the front roller nip and the traveler. In the AARS, the location of the fixed cylinder needs to satisfy that the fibrous strand can still contact the cylinder during the reciprocating motion of the yarn guide.…”

“…Adhered hairy fiber in yarn body is shown in Figure 26(c). In addition, only the outer layer of the fibrous strand touches the water and this water evaporates during the balloon process [62]. Figure 26.…”

“…Singh et al 23 and Wang and Chang 24 unveiled a novel initiative of offset spinning whereby the spinning triangle geometry is redirected by offsetting the yarn path diagonally, thus reducing yarn hairiness. Li et al 25 reported an agent-aided system that uses liquid water humidification via a contact surface with the fibrous strand to improve ring spun yarn hairiness. Although this system can effectively improve the properties of cotton and viscose yarns, the important investigation on chemical fibers with considerably different characteristics has been neglected.…”
