Reducing of on Polymerization Shrinkage by Application of UV Curable Dental Restorative Composites

Abstract: This manuscript describes dental compositions contain in-organic fi llers, multifunctional methacrylates and photoinitiators. The main problem by application and UV curing process is the shrinkage of photoreactive dental materials during and after UV curing process. Total shrinkage of UV curable dental composites is a phenomenon of polymerization shrinkage, typical behavior for multifunctional methacrylates during polymerization process. The important factors by curing of dental composites are: kind and concen… Show more

“…Figure shows that the UV‐curable adhesive containing AA monomer exhibits the greatest adhesion strength to the FTO glass. Because the AA monomer has one acrylate functional group that obtains the highest adhesion strength because it exhibits less shrinkage than adhesives based on monomers with multifunctional acrylate groups …”

“…In an extreme case, one of the joint constitutes breaks when shrinkage-induced stress exceeds its tensile strength. Reduction or controlling of the polymerization shrinkage is thus a major challenge in a variety of fields, including electrical potting, fabrication of composite materials, dental filling technology [1] or optics.…”

“…In contrast, our method described in detail in the following section is intentionally designed to perform shrinkage measurements under real conditions in micro-optical systems. Additional charm of this method is the usage of a laser distance sensor [1,11], which provides high spatial and temporal measurement resolution and allows for measurements without physical contact with the probe.…”

“…The reduction of distances between molecules creates internal stress throughout the crosslinked material. This reduces the adhesion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive to the joined surfaces [ 1 , 6 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 ].…”
