Abstract:This paper demonstrates an approximation to the numerical solution of the dynamic equilibrium of a catenary riser. The approximant is obtained in the frequency domain when the structure is excited by motions applied at the top. The dynamic equilibrium is formulated mathematically through six nonlinear partial differential equations which involve both geometric and hydrodynamic nonlinearities. The latter are represented by the Morison’s formula. The numerical solution of the six nonlinear differential equations… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
