Reduced Graphene Oxide Supported Cobalt Bipyridyl Complex for Sensitive Detection of Methyl Parathion in Fruits and Vegetables

Abstract: Herein, we are described a green route to prepare reduced graphene oxide supported cobalt inorganic complex nanocomposite (GRGO/[Co(bpy)3]) (bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine) through facile and wet chemical approach. The formation of the nanocomposite was confirmed through suitable physical and chemical characterization techniques. The GRGO/[Co(bpy)3] nanocomposite was coated on the pretreated glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The GCE/GRGO/[Co(bpy)3] modified electrode has excellent electrocatalytic ability towards methyl par… Show more

“…Reduced graphene oxide nanosheets (rGOs) are novel layered materials that possess high conductivity and large electro-catalytic sites or surface areas and have various applications [34] , [45] . In addition, rGOs are more interacted with metal sulfides and its one kind of electrostatic interaction of two nanomaterials [46] , [47] .…”

“…Among several available new techniques for analysis, sensor-based techniques are of high priority. Among the different types of sensors available, florescent probe sensors, optical sensors, biosensors and etc [22] , [23] , electrochemical sensors are well used for the sensitive determination of herbicides [18] . The main advantage of electrochemical sensors is simple, limited use of hazardous materials, quick, and low cost.…”

“…At the same time, metal oxides have the advantages of rich sources and low cost. They have been extensively used in the preparation of electrochemical sensors and successfully used to analyze a variety of substances [ 23 , 39 , 40 , 41 , 42 , 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 ], such as biological small molecules, food additives, pesticides [ 48 ] and drugs. Zirconium oxide (ZrO 2 ) is an inorganic oxide crystal with thermal stability, chemical inertia and avirulence.…”
