Aristotele 2Proviamo, per un attimo, a immaginare quali opportunità si schiuderebbero se, un giorno, la matematica e l'arte (scienze della forma per eccellenza), le scienze della natura e dei suoi processi, l'indagine sul significato degli oggetti e degli eventi, la letteratura, il senso del bello e del giusto si fondessero in un'opera armoniosa, in cui le affinità e le connessioni ci apparissero in una nuova luce e da cui persino le differenze risultassero con maggior chiarezza. Cosa accadrebbe di nuovo se questa sintesi diventasse al contempo uno straordinario strumento di lavoro, una nuova geometria mentale e un'alchimia spirituale che permettessero di combinare, per esempio, proprietà matematiche con qualità artistiche, elementi della natura e della cultura umana con effetti di senso, per dedurne e creare nuovi concetti e metodi che servano da trampolino per altre operazioni dello spirito?La ricerca di forme originali e inedite di conoscenza, una nuova educazione culturale, un progetto utopico (irrealistico, se si vuole) per un pensiero che vada oltre le barriere disciplinari e metodologiche in cui si sono "congelati" i saperi e le forme linguistiche che li esprimono; queste aspirazioni ci appaiono come altrettante sfide Introduzione
